Financial Year Planning
With the end of the 20/21 Financial Year nearly here, it’s often a good idea to go over the previous 12 months figures to see how you can improve for the next year. Spending some time working on your digital strategy means you will have a clear direction of where you need to be heading and what steps you need to take to achieve your goals.
Here are some ideas for you to consider.
1. Website Traffic
Do you know where your traffic is coming from on your website? High traffic is great but not if it’s all coming from outside the area where you need your customers coming from. Are you getting click throughs from any Social Media platforms you’re using for your business? If not, it might be time to take a look at how to improve that. Is any of your website traffic coming from online directories such as such as Truelocal and Hotfrog? If you’re paying for any of these listings and tracking where your traffic is coming from, it makes it very easy to decide whether to increase or decrease your spend on this form of advertising. This is where website reporting really pays off, it helps you to make valuable business decisions about where your advertising dollar is best spent.
If your business does not currently have an online presence, maybe now is a good time to consider it. There are many options out there that don’t have to cost a lot of money from a website design to a Facebook or Instagram page.
2. SEO – Search Engine Optimisation
SEO in a nutshell is helping increase the visibility of your website when customers are searching for your services or products. If you are currently working on SEO for your business do you need to update or refresh your keywords? Have your current keywords improved or declined over the last 12 months. Keeping your SEO updated and current is important so that you’re making the most of your spend.
3. Social Media
The ROI on Social Media can be hard to calculate but if you are using this for your business here are a few things you can check on. How is your engagement looking for your posts? One of the new changes that Facebook have made in their algorithm recently is that business posts with higher likes and comments will show first in people’s newsfeeds. Has your following grown? If you’ve done any advertising what were the results like? Facebook advertising can be a very cost effective option and a great way of reaching new customers in a very targeted area. Using the ‘Insights’ page on your business Facebook page is a very quick and easy way to see just how your page is performing and if you need to make adjustments.
4. Digital Marketing.
Two of the most commonly used types of Digital Marketing are Google Adwords and E-newsletters and these are a key way of growing your business in 2019. Easily trackable, digital marketing allows you to utilise rolling campaigns to help improve your ROI as you progress. E-newsletters are a fantastic way of keeping in touch with previous clients and helping you stay in their minds for when they might need you next. A newsletter or email can be as simple or complex as you need and even only sent quarterly. Google Adwords can help your business be found by potential customers searching for your products and services which is pay per click.
