Social Media Tips

Gaylene is our social media manager and she and works with our clients to generate business, boost profiles and engage customers. She has many varied clients and in this article she shares her top 5 tips for boosting social media for your business.

Utilising Social Media for your business can be a daunting prospect! How will I do it? What platform? I don’t have the time! What do I say? The benefits to your business of using social media to promote and engage with current and potential clients can be huge. Done right, it doesn’t have to take up too much time in your already busy day. Here are my top 5 tips to help boost your social media.

Choose Your Platform

As a small business owner, time is of a premium. Unless you can delegate your social media work to a trusted team member or contract a social media manager to do this for you, you will be the one doing the work. To save time and headaches, have a think about not only where your target market is likely to be but which platform you are comfortable using and which you are most likely to use consistently. This will help make your posting quicker and easier, and if things are easy and don’t take up too much of your time, you are more likely to get it done.

Consistency

Once you’ve got your business social media up and running you need to remember to post! This can be a tricky one to get right but generally every few days so you don’t overwhelm people but at the same time your page doesn’t drop off their newsfeed. Why not make the most of Facebook’s scheduling feature and get the bulk of your posts done in one hit? Something else to consider is to make sure that once you start posting you keep it up relatively regularly, too bigger gaps between posts (months not days) don’t look good.

Optimise your profile

The reason you’re spending time with social media for your business is to convert customers. Make sure you take the time to ensure all your business details are up to date including how to contact you. This is especially important if you don’t have a website as a business Facebook page will show up in a Google search. Things you can check are contact details, trading hours, areas you service and details about your business such as what services you offer etc.

Use your Smartphone

Just about everyone has one these days and they have become an integral part of doing business, especially when you’re mobile for most of the day. It is very quick and easy to snap a quick photo or video and post it to your business social media. Even if you don’t post straight away you will then have images on file that you can use another time or for your website. Before and afters work great and customers can very easily see the difference with the work that you’ve done. Video gets great reach and is easy to take and upload to your social media using your phone. You don’t have to be a professional videographer either, a short video even 10 seconds long showing your work can make an impact, create engagement and increase your reach.

What do I post

This is probably the question I get asked the most and the answer is different for everyone. Generally, try and keep your posting social and not too salesy. Think about what you like to see on social media and how could that translate to your business. Have a look and see what other businesses similar to yours are doing for inspiration. What do you do in your business that people would find interesting? Keep in mind that this is a great way to show some personality and keep your business in the forefront of your customers minds.

If this all sounds too hard, Gaylene can take care of it all for you for More Info
